ABOUT AMANDA
‘I began practising Yoga over 30 years ago and learned Ashtanga Vinyasa
Yoga from 1990. I loved the dynamic and flowing qualities of Ashtanga which
complemented the dance stuff I was doing at that time. I experimented with
Movement Ritual, Indian Dance, Contact Improvisation, Authentic Movement.
It was also in 1990 that I first came across Body-Mind Centering® and
began studying it, initially in dance settings.
At first I taught Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, but by the late nineties I was
experimenting with more creative ways of practising and teaching Yoga. I
am a creative person – an artist and so the form of Ashtanga which
had given me so much, began to feel constraining. I studied intensively
with Donna Farhi in 2000 and on many subsequent trainings. Her work includes
integration of universal movement patterns based on the principles of Body-Mind
Centering®. These principles work brilliantly with Yoga because they
are so simple and can be applied to everyone and every style of Yoga.
This way I can help students towards the development of embodied awareness
and movement of the greatest ease, enhancing the practice of Yoga and maybe
the living of life as well!'
